About Daryl
Daryl Porter Jr. is a native South Floridian, cornerback for the University of Miami Hurricanes, and transfer from the West Virginia Mountaineers. He is a graduate of American Heritage High School, where he played cornerback. During his senior year, Porter Jr. was All-Broward County First Team honoree. He helped the Patriots to a 10-2 mark as a senior. Porter is a versatile defender who can play cornerback or safety.
During his 2021 NCAA season, Porter Jr. completed 46 tackles, 40 solo tackles, 6 assist, 5 pass deflections and had an interception running 43 yards.
In his time at WVU, Porter Jr. made the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, and was named WVU Scout Team Defensive Player of the week. In addition to the depth he brings at cornerback, Porter Jr. has been used to great effect on special teams, too.
Porter Jr. is the son of Daryl Porter Sr. and Alexsandra Jones. Porter Sr. played eight years in the NFL with the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans. Porter Jr. is one of four children, including his brother Marvin Jones Jr., who recently signed with the class of 2021 with the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
Football runs in Porter Jr.’s blood. His earliest memories involve tossing the football around with his brother Marvin, and being shepherded to practice by his loving and supportive mother.
